Stamps to the Rescue

By Eileen Salmas

This seems like a really good idea. These stamps will be available from April 30 and the animals featured on them are actual shelter animals. The idea is to encourage people to adopt pets from shelters, not pet stores, in the hope that people will become more aware that they are literally saving lives this way. They even have a special website where you can pre-order them: Stamps to the Rescue.

The campaign is by the US Postal Service and Halo petfood company, which is part-owned by Ellen deGeneres. To help drive awareness, during the campaign launch, Halo will donate a million meals of Spot’s Stew to animal shelters around the country.

The website also features information on adoption and you can search on Petfinder.com, which will find adoptable animals for you around Encino from Precious Paws, Pooch Heaven, City of Los Angeles East Valley Animal Shelter and other shelter programs.
