Marijuana Dispensaries in Encino - Update

January 26, 2010

Hysteria 1; Commonsense 0

My original post here. Now that the LA City Council has passed its medical marijuana dispensary ordinance, it is absurdly restrictive. Read it here. The goal, of course, is to eliminate as many dispensaries as possible and display some leadership, but it will foster more black market sales and be subject to inevitable court challenges after it kicks in.

Update May 6: the LA Times has a map of dispensaries that are closing - Kind Meds, Amsterdam DK and Alleviations are on there..

The surviving dispensaries will have tons of burdensome restrictions and although 1 dispensary is allocated to Encino-Tarzana, it won’t be in Encino. Update May 20: here is an LA Times map of the ones that can remain open, none in Encino of course…
