Marijuana Dispensaries in Encino - update 3

July 30, 2011

A year has gone by since I checked in on the marijuana dispensaries and surprise surprise, Kind Meds has opened a new retail front between Amestoy and Genesta.

Even though the location seems to be in defiance of the City Council designated areas, lawsuits have tied up most (but not all) law enforcement. I am one local resident who would like to see Kind Meds survive. However, there may be new moves in Sacramento to re-regulate and I don’t like the direction they are headed (story here).

Kind Meds has evolved over the years, with some calling it “the best dispensary in the Valley” while others have complained “How can they have a reputation in skillets when they’re only serving unpurged waxes filled with butane at the most expensive price I’ve ever came across? 7 dollars for a hit of wax?” Ha ha ha – say what? One of the hilarious things about the marijuana wars is that specialized language has evolved that leaves outsiders wondering what the hell they are talking about.

Then there was this outraged customer (edited for grammar and spelling) on Weedtracker.com:

“Went in on Friday night and was pretty much refused service because one of the servers didn’t like the tip they had gotten the time before. I always take care of servers who give good service. When they don’t they are lucky to get anything for their shitty service and attitude.”

That prompted this rebuttal:

“Actually a couple of girls at the hash bar are pretty awesome. The system is set up where they rotate down the bar, so you might have to wait before it gets back to you. Complaining is becoming too easy, so just stop going if you don’t like it. I’ve walked in and walked out without meds before… I expect to wait if other patients are in front of me. Avoid conflict by moving across the bar. The bar girls separate their bar space, so move to another torch mistress if you get skipped.”

OK, so now you know it’s just like walking into a bar.
